Female Sexual Function & Pelvic Health
Most women don't talk about this. They've been quietly managing — leaking when they sneeze, avoiding sex because it doesn't feel the way it used to, wondering if this is just what getting older looks like. It doesn't have to be. The O-Shot® uses your own blood to restore the tissue that drives sensation, arousal, and bladder control. No surgery. No hormones. No downtime.
Who This Helps
These are some of the most common concerns we hear. If several of these resonate, you're a strong candidate for this conversation.
The Procedure
The O-Shot® was developed by Dr. Charles Runels and is a trademarked protocol performed only by certified providers. Shannon Lapointe is a Canadian Clinical Instructor for the full Runels procedure suite — she trains other providers across North America in this procedure.
A small amount of your own blood is drawn — similar to a routine lab test.
Your blood is processed in a centrifuge using the Health Canada-approved MD Biologix system to concentrate the platelets and growth factors.
A topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the treatment area and allowed to work for a full 25 minutes. An additional injectable block is used if needed. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.
The concentrated PRP is injected into the clitoral tissue and anterior vaginal wall — the areas responsible for sensation and bladder control. The injection itself takes only a few minutes.
You leave and resume your normal day. No recovery period. No restrictions beyond mild post-procedure guidance.

Individual results vary. During your assessment, Shannon will give you a realistic picture of what to expect based on your specific situation.
Emerging research: Multiple studies now show that combining shockwave therapy (GAINSwave for Her®) with PRP produces synergistic effects — including for interstitial cystitis and pelvic pain. Shannon will discuss whether GAINSwave for Her® + O-Shot® is appropriate for your situation.
The Evidence
Published Research — Verified Source
When the O-Shot® PRP is combined with the Clitoxin™ neuromodulator in the same appointment, published research by Runels and Runnels (Journal of Women's Health Care, 2024) showed the Female Sexual Function Index total score improved by an average of 12 points — enough to move the average woman presenting with sexual dysfunction to the average score seen in women who describe their sex lives as satisfying. Neither of the two FDA-approved drugs for female sexual dysfunction (flibanserin or bremelanotide) achieves this magnitude of improvement. This data is from peer-reviewed published research. We do not auto-generate statistics.
The O-Shot® protocol is built on a growing body of research into PRP for female sexual function and pelvic health. We don't overstate what the science says — we tell you what it actually shows.
Why the O-Shot® and Clitoxin™ Are Frequently Combined
PRP regenerates tissue from within — improving the health and responsiveness of the treated tissue over weeks and months. The Clitoxin™ neuromodulator addresses the autonomic nervous system pathway to the arousal center — raising the baseline arousal set point. They work through different mechanisms on the same outcome. The combination in a single appointment produced the strongest results in Runels' published research. Shannon will discuss whether this combined approach is appropriate for your situation at your assessment.
Candidacy
We're one of the few clinics that will tell you if you're not a good candidate. If we can't help you, we'll say so — and point you somewhere that can.
Breast Cancer Survivors
Women treated for breast cancer often cannot use estrogen — meaning vaginal atrophy, dryness, and painful intercourse go unaddressed for years. This is one of the most significant gaps in post-cancer care for women, and it affects quality of life, relationships, and wellbeing profoundly.
The O-Shot® does not involve hormones. It uses your own growth factors to restore tissue health locally — without affecting systemic estrogen levels. Two peer-reviewed studies have specifically examined PRP for genitourinary syndrome in breast cancer survivors:
Results in breast cancer survivors typically last 9–18 months. Shannon will discuss your oncology history at your assessment and confirm appropriateness before proceeding.
Integrated Approach
Female sexual function is rarely a single-system problem. Sensation, arousal, continence, and hormones are connected. At Revitalize, we look at the full picture and may combine the O-Shot® with:
