Clinically Guided Pelvic Floor Therapy

EMSELLA®

We have a saying here about EMSELLA®: we cheat. You sit in a chair, fully clothed, for 28 minutes — and the machine does the equivalent of thousands of Kegel exercises that would take you months to complete on your own. For people dealing with leaking, urgency, or pelvic floor weakness affecting their confidence and their intimate life, this is often the most significant change they've experienced in years.

EMSELLA® pelvic floor strengthening chair
BTL — manufacturer of EMSELLA®

FDA-Cleared Device

Manufactured by BTL Industries

The EMSELLA® chair uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to penetrate deep into the pelvic floor. You sit fully clothed. The machine does the work. 28 minutes per session.

FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence
FDA-cleared for improvement of sexual function
Fully clothed — no undressing required
Zero downtime — resume normal activities immediately

More Than Chair Time

Clinically guided pelvic floor therapy — not just a chair

At many clinics, EMSELLA® is chair time and nothing more. At Revitalize, it is clinically guided care. Alongside the chair, your program includes interaction with a virtual pelvic floor physiotherapist matched to your situation, and the oversight of a Certified Continence Advisor. The technology, the physiotherapy, and continence expertise — together — are what make this more than the chair-alone programs offered elsewhere.

The EMSELLA® Chair

High-intensity focused electromagnetic technology strengthens the full pelvic floor — the equivalent of thousands of Kegels per session, fully clothed.

Virtual Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist

Guided interaction with a pelvic floor physiotherapist relevant to your situation — so the chair is part of a plan, not a stand-alone.

Certified Continence Advisor

Shannon’s continence expertise oversees your program — clinical judgment that extends well beyond operating a device.

Who This Helps

What this treats

EMSELLA® treats both women and men. It is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence and has also received clearance for improvement of sexual function through pelvic floor strengthening.

Shannon holds a Certified Continence Advisor designation — one of the few EMSELLA® providers in the Niagara region with specific clinical training in both urinary and fecal continence. EMSELLA® strengthens the entire pelvic floor including the anal sphincter complex. If fecal urgency or leakage is part of your picture, mention it when you book — it is within our scope and it deserves the same attention as urinary incontinence. People just talk about it even less.

Leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh, or exercise
Urgent, sudden need to urinate
Frequent urination
Reduced sensation during sex
Post-partum pelvic floor weakness
Pelvic floor weakness from age or menopause
Urinary leakage in men post-prostate surgery
Fecal urgency or leakage (discuss at assessment)

Bladder & Incontinence

How EMSELLA® helps urgency, cystitis & stress incontinence

Stress Urinary Incontinence

By rebuilding pelvic floor strength, EMSELLA® restores the support that keeps you dry when you cough, sneeze, lift, or exercise.

Urgency & Overactive Bladder

Retraining and strengthening the pelvic floor helps calm the sudden, urgent need to go — and reduces how often it happens.

Cystitis & Bladder Discomfort

Where bladder irritation is linked to pelvic floor dysfunction, restoring pelvic floor coordination can ease discomfort, frequency, and urgency.

How It Works

HIFEM technology — the full pelvic floor, all at once

EMSELLA® uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to penetrate deep into the pelvic floor and stimulate supramaximal contractions — the kind of full-depth, maximal contraction that voluntary Kegel exercises cannot achieve.

A single 28-minute session delivers thousands of these contractions. Over a course of six sessions, the cumulative effect rebuilds the strength, coordination, and neuromuscular control of the pelvic floor in a way that exercise alone rarely achieves — especially in tissue that has been weakened by childbirth, menopause, age, or surgery.

Clinical Data — BTL Published Research EMSELLA® has the most robust device-specific clinical evidence of any pelvic floor treatment currently available. The mechanism is well-established: High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy induces supramaximal contractions — contractions at a depth and intensity that voluntary effort cannot achieve. A single 28-minute session delivers thousands of these contractions, producing the equivalent of thousands of Kegel exercises in terms of neuromuscular stimulus, but recruiting the deep pelvic floor in a way that voluntary Kegels typically cannot. Across BTL’s standardized 6-session protocol, the large majority of patients report meaningful improvement in quality of life, better pelvic-floor awareness and coordination, and reduced reliance on pads. Separate peer-reviewed research has examined EMSELLA® for female sexual function and reported benefit for both sexual function and urinary symptoms following the protocol. We speak to these outcomes qualitatively — Shannon will tell you at your assessment what is realistic for your specific type and severity. EMSELLA® is FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence and for improvement of sexual function through pelvic floor strengthening — two separate cleared indications. It is the only device in its category with both clearances. Shannon holds a Certified Continence Advisor (CCA) designation from McMaster University — a credential held by very few EMSELLA® providers in the Niagara region. This means your assessment includes clinical expertise in continence that extends well beyond operating a device. We attribute these figures to their correct source (BTL clinical white paper). We do not fabricate statistics. Shannon will tell you at your assessment which outcomes are realistic for your specific type and severity of incontinence.

EMSELLA® + O-Shot® — the Comprehensive Pelvic Health Approach

EMSELLA® rehabilitates the pelvic floor through neuromuscular training. The O-Shot® PRP regenerates the tissue of the anterior vaginal wall and clitoral area — the tissue responsible for urethral support and sensory response. Together they address both the muscular and tissue components of pelvic floor dysfunction. This combination is the most comprehensive non-surgical approach to urinary incontinence and pelvic sexual function currently available.
