Urinary & Fecal Health — Men & Women
Urinary incontinence affects approximately 1 in 3 women and a significant number of men. Most people who have it have never sought treatment — because they were told it was normal, told to do Kegels, or simply didn't know that anything beyond pads and medication existed. It does. EMSELLA® pelvic floor rehabilitation and O-Shot® PRP address the underlying causes of urinary leakage rather than managing it around the edges. Shannon Lapointe holds a Certified Continence Advisor designation — one of the few providers in the Niagara region with specific clinical training in this area.
Types of Incontinence
The type of incontinence determines the most effective treatment approach. Shannon assesses this specifically at your consultation.
Stress Incontinence
Leaking triggered by physical pressure — coughing, sneezing, laughing, jumping, lifting. The pelvic floor muscles cannot hold urine against sudden pressure changes. Most common type. Highly responsive to EMSELLA® and O-Shot®.
Urge Incontinence
Sudden, urgent, difficult-to-control need to urinate — often followed by leaking before reaching the bathroom. The bladder contracts involuntarily. Responds well to EMSELLA® and may benefit from hormone optimization.
Mixed Incontinence
Combination of stress and urge components. Very common. Shannon assesses the dominant type and treats accordingly with a combination approach.
Fecal Incontinence
Urgency or leakage of stool. Affects the anal sphincter complex. People rarely seek help because it is even more difficult to discuss than urinary incontinence. EMSELLA® strengthens the entire pelvic floor including the anal sphincter and is effective for this condition.
The Treatments
EMSELLA® — Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
EMSELLA® uses High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to induce thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor contractions per session — the type and depth of contraction that voluntary Kegel exercises cannot achieve. You sit fully clothed on the EMSELLA® chair for 28 minutes. No undressing, no preparation, no discomfort beyond a strong pelvic floor sensation. Six sessions over three weeks. BTL clinical data: 95% of patients reported significant quality of life improvement; 67% eliminated or significantly reduced pad use. FDA-cleared for urinary incontinence. Shannon holds a Certified Continence Advisor designation — one of very few EMSELLA® providers in Niagara with this specific clinical credential.
O-Shot® PRP — Tissue Regeneration
The O-Shot® injects platelet-rich plasma into the anterior vaginal wall — the tissue that supports the bladder neck and urethra. This is the structural support that fails in stress urinary incontinence. PRP growth factors stimulate tissue regeneration, collagen production, and improved urethral support in the treated area. Many women experience meaningful improvement in stress incontinence following the O-Shot® alone. Combined with EMSELLA®, the effect addresses both the muscular and tissue components of the problem simultaneously.
For Men
Urinary incontinence in men is most common following prostate surgery (radical prostatectomy) and affects a significant proportion of men post-operatively. EMSELLA® is effective for post-prostatectomy incontinence — strengthening the external urethral sphincter and pelvic floor muscles that maintain continence. Men also experience urge incontinence and overactive bladder, both of which respond to EMSELLA®.
If you are a man dealing with urinary leakage and have been told nothing can be done short of further surgery, that is not accurate. Book a discovery conversation and get an honest assessment of your options.

Bladder and pelvic-floor care begins with a free conversation and a free trial — so you can feel the difference before you ever decide.
Sit down with our Patient Care Coordinator to talk through what's happening, what's behind it, and exactly what your options and costs would be. No exam required, no obligation.
Experience a session of EMSELLA® — the pelvic-floor treatment you sit on, fully clothed — at no cost, so you can feel how it works before committing to anything at all.
From there you choose the approach that fits — a physiotherapy-led program or our standard program — with pricing laid out plainly and Shannon guiding which is right for you.
Validated screeners for leakage (ICIQ) and overactive bladder (OAB-V8). Women can also take the Prolapse Screener; men can check prostate-related urinary symptoms (IPSS).
Your free Discovery Conversation is the first step — no pressure, no exam, completely confidential. We will tell you honestly whether treatment is likely to help and what realistic improvement looks like.
